Goodman Mais

Mais

Brazil’s lack of access to education for underprivileged people makes the country’s income gap grow wider each year.

Since 2021, Goodman’s Brazil team has focussed its Foundation work on the Goodman Mais (more) program in response to the high numbers of Brazilians that leave school to earn income for their families.

The first cohort of young adults from disadvantaged areas of São Paulo will graduate in late 2023 in this skills and confidence-building program. The next cohort of 30 students have been selected from around 200 applications, evidence that the Mais program is attracting young, motivated people. Each student meets bi-monthly with a Goodman mentor and around half of Goodman’s Brazil employees are taking part.

Among other activities, participants study environmental management, leading to a formal qualification. Through the Mais program, and Goodman networks, students hear from employers on how to apply for future employment, some of whom may ultimately provide students with jobs.

To help ease their path, the Goodman team is marketing the Mais program to its networks and connecting the final-year students to potential employers.
