24/7 delivery
The Co-operative Group (Co-op) was looking for a strategically-located distribution centre that could support its growing store network.
Situated to the west of Andover, Goodman's 100-acre site provided the perfect solution, combining excellent connectivity with access to a large local workforce.
Working in partnership with the food retailer, Goodman delivered the bespoke 468,000 sq ft regional distribution centre within a 40-week build programme.
Designed to serve the Co-op's stores in the south of England, it features three temperature zones - ambient, fresh and frozen - covering each of its core product lines. Certified to a BREEAM 'Excellent' standard, the facility features a number of energy and cost-saving features, including solar thermal hot water and rainwater harvesting, all contributing to a more sustainable business operation.
The Co-operative Group’s food business has grown significantly in recent years. This investment will help us to continue to provide high standards of service to our customers, while also allowing for further growth.
Today, the 24/7 depot is responsible for delivering 1.2 million cases of produce a week. Since opening it has created hundreds of new jobs in the area, supporting the local economy and boosting employment opportunities.
