Sustainability customer story: Keylink Industrial Estate - Australia

The MTU Detroit Diesel Australia industrial facility at Keylink Industrial Estate in Edinburgh, South Australia was purpose-built by Goodman to suit their specific business space requirements.

Completed in March 2009, the facility has 5,420 sqm of warehouse and office space and a 12,500 sqm hardstand area.

On the roof of the warehouse, a 300 panel, 50kW solar photovoltaic system has been installed. The solar panels generate clean energy, reduce environmental impact, energy expenses and greenhouse gas emissions. It is expected to generate 70,000 kW hours of electricity per annum and reduce MTU Detroit Diesel Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by 70 tonnes each year.

This solar installation is part of the Commonwealth funded Adelaide Solar City programme and is the programme’s first commercial solar installation.

Sustainable initiatives

The MTU Detroit Diesel Australia industrial facility also incorporates other sustainable initiatives. These initiatives are a great example of how Goodman Australia is incorporating sustainable practices into the industrial facilities it develops.

Sustainable initiatives at Keylink Industrial Estate include:

  • Design and installation of a stormwater management system that ties into the surrounding North Adelaide Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) system.
  • Bi level lighting and zoning control to improve energy efficiency.
  • Installation of a unique solar panel system on the roof of the building
