Goodman Group is developing a logistics centre covering about 22,000 sqm in the western German city of Koblenz. It will lease 12.600 sqm of these facilities to Kuehne + Nagel, one of the world's leading logistics providers. Kuehne + Nagel will operate a shared logistics centre and an international forwarding location from the site. Another 8,600 sqm of logistics space are being constructed on a purely speculative basis. The project is scheduled for completion in autumn 2019.
Kuehne + Nagel employs almost 79,000 people in about 1,300 locations in more than 100 countries. The logistics provider has an existing site for air and sea freight and overland transport in Koblenz. Matthias Weiner, member of the executive board Kuehne + Nagel Germany and responsible for Contract logistics, explains: "Because of its multimodal transport connections, Koblenz is an important hub in our Germany-wide logistics network. The new building in Koblenz underscores our long-standing and successful business partnership with Goodman."
Koblenz I Logistics Centre will boast 10,449 sqm of dedicated warehouse and technical system floorspace to provide optimised intralogistics processes. It also features fourteen loading bays to ensure seamless goods handling and office space over an area measuring 1,233 sqm, including 310 sqm for social areas. Its 50 parking spaces ensure stress-free arrival and departure for employees.
Hub and central point for Germany-wide logistics
The logistics complex is situated in Koblenz Industrial Park, adjacent to the A 61 autobahn. Also located very close to the A 48 and A 3 autobahns, the new site is positioned at Germany's most important North-South axis. Cologne-Bonn and Frankfurt international airports are just an hour away. Situated at the confluence of Rhine and Moselle, this city of 110,000 people lies at the midway point between the Rhine-Ruhr and Rhine-Main Metropolitan Regions. Goodman has previously developed a 110,000 sqm logistics complex for Amazon in the same area.

This is the fourth development undertaken together in Germany this year. In recent years, logistics properties have been built in Grossbeeren, Nuremberg and Hamburg in Germany.
With the supply of high-quality logistics facilities in the area being are scarce, Goodman is building an additional 8,600 sqm warehouse complex anticipating high demand for the new development for lease. With 600 sqm of office space and social areas, the building boasts total warehouse area of 7,226 sqm including a mezzanine to maximise the space. There are six loading bays and parking spaces for 30 cars adjacent to the building making it ideal for logistics or light industry customers.
