International logistics service provider HEINRICH DEHN has moved into a new logistics property in Hamburg’s Altenwerder freight village (GVZ): the Goodman Hamburg II Logistics Centre. As an expert for contract, food and reverse logistics, HEINRICH DEHN has taken 5,600 sqm in a modern sustainable property in a strategic location. Goodman is developing additional warehouse space in the area to cater for the high demand, now that this building is 100% leased.
The Goodman Hamburg II Logistics Centre is located in the GVZ Altenwerder placing it in the centre of the Port of Hamburg and immediately adjacent to the Altenwerder Container Terminal. The 12,700 m² facility is divided into two units: the first, with an area of 7,100 m², has already been leased to a leading supplier of fragrances and flavourings. HEINRICH DEHN is now renting Unit 2 which has 5,600 m² of warehouse and logistics space, inclusive of an approx. 600 m² mezzanine and 100 m² of office and social space. Thanks to direct access to the A7 and the Port of Hamburg’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, providing HEINRICH DEHN excellent transport links – key to the success of a logistics company.
The property was designed to meet German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) guidelines and is fitted with LED lighting throughout. With windows extending across the entire length of the mezzanine, combined with a hall height of 11.8 metres, optimum use can be made of natural light. As the owner and manager of the property, Goodman will ensure that the building continues to service HEINRICH DEHN’s needs.
Milestones of corporate history: new premises and 200th anniversary
For HEINRICH DEHN Internationale Spedition GmbH, which will be celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, its move to this location is the next milestone in its proud corporate history. The company, founded in Schleswig-Flensburg in 1818, operates internationally and provides worldwide transport and logistics services as well as specialist logistics services along the supply chain for industry and commerce. Depending on customer requirements HEINRICH DEHN operates as a partner, consultant, planner or forwarding agent.
According to Andreas Dahm, HEINRICH DEHN’s Branch Manager Hamburg, “There are very good reasons why Hamburg is one of Germany’s most popular logistics locations. We are therefore all the more delighted to have a modern building in Altenwerder with excellent links to key transport routes. Given our direct proximity to the Port of Hamburg, we will be able to coordinate and control our logistics processes even better in the future. Furthermore, because of the access security and construction method, an AEO-F certificate and quality management systems including HACCP and BIO are possible. This warehouse will be registered with bonded warehouse-status. With Goodman as the developer and manager of the property, we have also found a partner whom we can trust implicitly thanks to the company’s track record.”

We are currently developing a property with 35,000 sqm of flexible logistics space at Moorburger Bogen, approximately five kilometres from Altenwerder.
