TNC is an important community-based care organisation that provides support and recreational opportunities for adults with a mild to moderate intellectual disability in western Sydney. They operate on a small budget, with minimum administrative overheads, with most funds going directly to fund front line staff providing recreational services directly to their members.
Goodman Foundation has supported TNC since 2010 providing essential funding for the acquisition of TNC’s transport bus enabling the organisation to deliver outings to its service members. Funding was also provided to TNC for the purchase of garden furniture in their Blacktown facility, computers and Ipads for the use and development of their members’, as well as the annual funding of a Christmas party for the members and their families from the staff contributions in the good+deeds workplace giving programme.
In our latest support for TNC, the Goodman Foundation has enabled the delivery of an important social programme for members called “Out and About” over the coming three years. This programme provides TNC members with the opportunity to participate in social activities in an environment where they feel comfortable and with peers with whom they can form friendships and a sense of community. Like the core services of TNC, it also provides respite for their care givers where these service members are not in independent living.
The Goodman team enjoys volunteering at TNC and has assisted with the Family Fun and BBQ day.
