MS Australia

MS Australia and the Goodman Foundation have a long standing relationship aimed at improving the quality of life of those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. In 2008, the Goodman Foundation provided MS Studdy Centre at Lidcombe with a Kangoo Vehicle, with wheel chair access, to facilitate wheelchair bound people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and enable them to attend medical appointments etc. This vehicle is still in use and provides much appreciated city transport for one wheelchair bound person and two passengers.

In 2012, the Goodman Foundation provided further support in the supply of a Toyota Hi Ace van with a wheelchair lifter, to transport 3 to 4 residents confined to wheelchairs, allowing them to participate in outings in the city or parks. People with MS are able to reside at the Studdy MS Centre for up to six weeks on respite stay and during this time they receive support, care and advice from the specialist MS health professionals, who are located at the Centre. Over a twelve month period, approximately 400 people with MS, from across NSW, will stay at the Centre and use the van for transportation purposes, including social outings and visits to their neurologist or General Practitioner.

The Foundation’s support of MS Australia has continued with the provision of a fitted out office facility for their Northern Region Client Services operations, located in The Binary Centre, North Ryde.

Each November, Goodman staff participate in the annual ‘MS Gong Ride’, supported by the Foundation’s good+heart programme, where the team, known as the "Green Machine" raise funds for MS Australia.
