What is the difference between a dividend and a distribution?

Dividends are paid to shareholders by companies out of their profits. Distributions are paid to Unitholders by trusts. Distributions are usually made up of income, eg. rental income, and may also include a capital payment to investors, eg. if a property was sold.
Distributions from the merged group may comprise both a dividend on the underlying GIL share and a distribution on the underlying GIT unit.

You must forward written notice of any changes to your investment details to the Security Registrar. You may wish to download a Change of Address Form and complete and return it to the Security Registrar. If you are an issuer-sponsored holder, you can change your address details on this website. For security reasons, this facility is not available to broker-sponsored holders and these holders will need to advise their sponsoring participant of any change.

What is the ex-distribution date?

The ex-distribution date is the date on which securities change from being quoted ‘cum’ to ‘ex’. Securities are usually quoted ex-distribution for four business days before GMG's Record Date. Securities sold ex-distribution entitle the seller (the previous owner) to receive the last declared distribution prior to the sale, rather than the purchaser. The security price may fall on the ex-distribution date, with the fall in price being similar to the amount of distribution to be paid.

What does "cum-distribution" mean?

Cum means "with". Securities quoted on a cum-distribution basis means that securities are being traded with the current distribution attached (the price of the securities will usually reflect the amount of the distribution). Securities sold cum-distribution do not entitle the previous owner to receive the last distribution prior to the sale, that is, the purchaser will receive the declared distribution.

When will I receive my annual tax statement?

In August each year, an annual tax statement for the year ended 30 June is mailed to all Securityholders who have held an investment in GMG during that tax year. The annual tax statement summarises the distributions and dividends paid during the year and includes information required to complete your annual tax return.
